5 minute Heart-opening Summer Vinyasa-Yoga Flow.

This short Vinyasa Yoga flow is perfect to invigorate yourself, ever if you only have 5 minutes to spare. Practice in the morning to open the heart, straighten to posture and stand-tall: ready for the day ahead.

Perhaps add it to your home yoga practice when you want to work on heart openers in a creative flow. It starts with a mild heart-opener and gradually works up to bow pose.

Pair it with my core-strength flow to increase the heat!

Here is the full sequence for this energizing, heart-opening summer yoga flow :

Starting in child’s pose (Balasana.)

Inhale, come up to Downward-dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana). Exhale. Hold for 5 breaths.

Inhale Wild-thing (Camatkarasana): raising the left leg. Hold for a breath or two. Inhale.

Exhale Downward-dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana).

Vinyasa (Exhale Plank, Lower down Chaturanga, Inhale upward dog).

Sphinx (Salamba Bhujangasana). 5 breaths.

Straighten arms in sphinx pose to get a nice stretch of the entire spine. This can be an intense stretch, take it easy if you are suffering from lower-back pain. Hold for 5 breaths.

Child’s pose – Bend elbows, reaching the fingers towards the back of the neck. 10 breaths.

Downward-dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana). 5 breaths.

Wild-thing (Camatkarasana): Inhale raising the right leg. Exhale in the pose. Hold for a breath or two.

Inhale return to Downward-dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana).

Vinyasa (Exhale Plank, Lower down Chaturanga, Inhale upward dog).

Bow pose (Dhanurasana).
